TL;DR
Procurement Engineer (Nuclear): Building and leading the supplier base for TRISO-X and first-of-a-kind nuclear fuel and reactor programs with an accent on supplier qualification, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supply chain localization. Focus on developing project execution plans, mitigating supplier and category risks, and managing technical, quality, cost, and schedule requirements for regulated power plant components.

Location: Oak Ridge, TN, United States; 5 days onsite. Hours are 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday–Friday, with up to 10% travel.

Salary: $139,000–$159,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Identify, develop, and qualify equipment and service suppliers for nuclear fuel and reactor programs.
  • Build strategic and project-specific supply chain plans aligned with project schedules, cost targets, and regional localization goals.
  • Develop category plans using spend and risk analysis, and implement negotiation and supplier risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Negotiate contract costs, schedules, terms and conditions, technical requirements, and long-term strategic supplier agreements.
  • Manage supplier contracts and performance to support on-time purchasing and delivery.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, business development, suppliers, and customers on commercial, technical, and contracting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
  • Typically 10 years of experience in engineering or supply chain, including at least 2 years in supply chain.
  • Experience developing scopes of work, technical requirements, and quality requirements for equipment procurement.
  • Experience with supplier negotiations, project plans, schedules, and costing models.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry or another highly regulated industry.
  • Technical knowledge of the manufacture, operation, and maintenance of typical power plant components.
