What you will do

• Architect, install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances across complex Windows environments, including Azure SQL Database.
• Lead application and database performance engineering by analyzing execution plans, queries, wait statistics, DMVs, Extended Events, and Query Store data.
• Design, implement, and validate backup, recovery, high-availability, and disaster-recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups and Log Shipping.
• Govern database security, access controls, auditing, encryption, capacity planning, and production change management.
• Automate DBA operations with PowerShell and SQL Agent, and manage SQL Server patching and upgrades.
• Mentor junior and mid-level DBAs and lead response and post-incident reviews for critical database outages.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience in large-scale, mission-critical production environments.
• Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and 2025 on Windows Server 2019 and 2022, plus advanced T-SQL skills.
• Strong experience in query optimization, execution plan analysis, index design, partitioning, ORM anti-patterns, lock contention, and blocking chains.
• Experience with Always On Availability Groups, Windows Server Failover Clustering, failover, point-in-time restores, disaster recovery, and recovery testing.
• Experience administering Windows Server and using Active Directory and Kerberos authentication for SQL Server.
• Ability to lead technical projects, mentor team members, and work with ITIL change, incident, and problem management processes.

Nice to have

• DP-300 or legacy MCSE Data Management & Analytics certification.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database or SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines in hybrid environments.
• Exposure to APM and database monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, Redgate SQL Monitor, SolarWinds DPA, or SentryOne.
• PowerShell DBA automation with dbatools, SSIS, data warehousing, or reporting environments.
• Knowledge of GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and database deployment pipelines using Flyway, Liquibase, or Redgate Deployment Manager.
