Staff Software Engineer, Adaptive Experiences Platform (TypeScript)

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Base pay: CAD 188,200–282,200 per year, with potential bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Define the technical direction for the adaptive experiences SDK and translate the vision into production-ready architecture.
• Modernize the PS5 Store runtime by migrating legacy rendering paths to schema-driven experiences.
• Design composition layers, TypeScript APIs, versioned schemas, content adapters, component models, data bindings, and platform renderer contracts.
• Build reusable rendering primitives supporting personalization, experimentation, telemetry, accessibility, localization, and platform-specific interactions.
• Improve performance, reliability, observability, compatibility, rollback, and staged migration across resource-constrained client platforms.
• Lead cross-team architecture decisions, developer tooling, testing, documentation, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience designing production client platforms, SDKs, frameworks, or shared libraries.
• Expert proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript and strong experience with React, React Native, or a comparable component-based framework.
• Strong software architecture and API design skills, including modularity, versioning, backward compatibility, and incremental migration.
• Experience with data-driven or server-driven interfaces, reusable component systems, client performance, profiling, telemetry, automated testing, and observability.
• Experience designing for multiple client environments and leading ambiguous cross-functional technical work.

Nice to have

• Console development, living-room interfaces, focus-based navigation, or performance-constrained native client experience.
• Schema-backed declarative UI, JSON Schema, data binding, hydration, client-side rendering engines, or platform adapters.
• Experience with content, merchandising, personalization, experimentation, or design-system platforms.
• Developer tooling, visual previews, contract testing, schema validation, or cross-platform regression testing.
• Generative AI or agentic workflows for software or content creation, including governance and evaluation.
