Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Canada — hybrid; available only to candidates based in Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener-Waterloo, with office attendance at least one day per week according to the department schedule

Salary: $196,300–$265,600 CAD annual base salary, with a midpoint of $230,900 CAD

What you will do

• Drive platform strategy and resolve cross-team technical problems that are not owned by a single team.
• Research emerging technologies, build prototypes, and create design documents that shape engineering direction.
• Own technical decisions for organization-wide initiatives from proposal through adoption.
• Build and maintain high-quality software while mentoring senior engineers and raising engineering standards.
• Use agentic AI tools in daily development and advance Amplify, hirify.global’s in-house AI engineering platform.
• Lead initiatives including mobile offline architecture, Expo migration, in-house end-to-end testing, and platform scalability.

Requirements

• Track record of delivering technical initiatives across multiple teams and securing support from leadership and peers.
• Deep technical judgment covering architecture, trade-offs, and implementation details.
• Strong frontend experience with React and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or Copilot.
• Clear technical writing, including RFCs, design documents, and architecture decision records.
• Experience deliberately mentoring and developing senior engineers.

Nice to have

• Production mobile experience with React Native or native iOS/Android expertise.
• Production experience with GraphQL or Ruby on Rails.
