TL;DR
Welding & Compliance Engineer (Welding, Brazing, and Manufacturing Compliance): Developing and improving welding and brazing processes for manufacturing with an accent on TIG, MIG, robotic, laser welding, welding metallurgy, and regulatory compliance. Focus on qualifying procedures, maintaining WPS/PQR documentation, supporting audits and certifications, investigating root causes, and implementing automation and process improvements.

Location: Onsite in Blauvelt, New York, United States; Monday–Friday office attendance required. The role includes periodic presence on the manufacturing floor, personal protective equipment, and 10%–15% travel.

Salary: $103,000–$115,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Develop, qualify, implement, and continuously improve welding and brazing processes.
  • Provide technical expertise across TIG, MIG, brazing, robotic welding, laser welding, and other joining technologies.
  • Develop and maintain WPS, PQR, BPS, WPQ, BPQ, certification records, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support welder and brazer qualifications, third-party audits, Authorized Inspector reviews, regulatory inspections, and certification renewals.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for welding, quality, and compliance issues.
  • Support automation, capital projects, continuous improvement, and manufacturing performance initiatives in collaboration with Production, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in welding, brazing, or pressure vessel manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of TIG, MIG, laser welding, robotic welding, brazing, and welding metallurgy.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Section IX, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, CRN, UL, and related certification requirements.
  • Experience developing and qualifying welding and brazing procedures and supporting regulatory audits, inspections, and certifications.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing documentation systems, plus strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Nice to have

  • Certified Welding Engineer or equivalent qualification.
  • Certified Welding Inspector certification.
  • Experience with pressure vessel manufacturing, robotic welding, laser welding systems, automation, and process improvement projects.
