Fabrication/Welding Lead (Nuclear)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite shop-floor work required

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead, schedule, mentor, and develop a growing team of welders and fabricators.
• Own weld quality standards, review and approve WPS documentation, and troubleshoot process or quality issues.
• Translate engineering drawings and specifications into repeatable, nuclear-grade fabrication processes with Engineering and Quality Control.
• Coordinate production priorities and timelines with the Manufacturing Manager.
• Champion shop safety, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain weld travelers, certifications, and non-conformance documentation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional welding or fabrication experience, including 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
• AWS Certified Welder or equivalent, with strong GTAW/TIG proficiency on stainless steel and exotic alloys.
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings, weld symbols, and WPS documentation.
• Experience with pressure-vessel or code welding, including ASME Section IX, B31.3, or similar standards.
• Experience leading, training, or mentoring welders or fabricators.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work onsite with appropriate PPE.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification or equivalent.
• Experience in nuclear, aerospace, or other highly regulated quality environments.
• Experience establishing welding processes, procedures, or a new production line from scratch.
• Familiarity with ASME Section III and NDE processes.
• Experience with production scheduling, ERP/MES systems, forklifts, overhead cranes, or rigging.
