Staff Cloud Engineer (AWS)

Location: Canada. The team works remotely across Canada, the US, and the UK.

Annual salary: $158,400–$247,500 CAD; the accomplished-stage salary is $188,100.

What you will do

• Shape the long-term technical vision for the infrastructure alongside staff and senior staff engineers.
• Turn the infrastructure vision into concrete deliverables and drive ambiguous, cross-team problems through resolution.
• Build consensus across engineering and provide technical leadership on cloud infrastructure and architectural decisions.
• Improve operational health by reducing noisy alerts, hardening the platform, and making systems easier to run.
• Work with the Application Security Team on infrastructure security and compliance requirements.
• Help the team use AI coding and research tools effectively while applying sound judgment to infrastructure changes.

Requirements

• Deep expertise with AWS, including multi-region deployments and highly available, high-scale cloud services.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code skills, particularly Terraform.
• Solid infrastructure architecture experience and the ability to design scalable, reliable systems from AWS building blocks.
• Experience operating databases at scale, including upgrades, scaling, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Experience leading large projects, driving consensus across stakeholders, and operating infrastructure through rapid company growth.
• Comfort participating in an on-call rotation and providing technical leadership to other engineers.
