Localization Language Lead - French (Gamedev)

What you will do

• Own the French localization strategy, quality bar, and final sign-off across the game portfolio.
• Review and edit in-game text, UI, scripts, and voiceover content for tone, fluency, clarity, and cultural relevance.
• Create and enforce French glossaries, style guides, cultural policies, and terminology standards.
• Partner with localization producers, developers, QA, marketing, publishing, and game studios on language decisions and quality issues.
• Lead French VO casting, script reviews, and creative direction sessions.
• Audit in-development and near-final builds, mentor linguists and vendors, and improve localization processes and tooling.

Requirements

• Professional localization experience in games, technology, or entertainment.
• Native-level French fluency with strong command of tone, grammar, and regional nuance.
• Advanced written and spoken English for representing language decisions across global teams.
• Ability to work independently on complex projects and resolve ambiguous or conflicting language decisions.
• Knowledge of platform-holder guidelines, naming conventions, brand alignment, and French culture and gaming audiences.
• Experience overseeing or mentoring linguists and freelance vendors, plus familiarity with CAT tools, translation memory systems, XLOC, JIRA, or CMS.

Nice to have

• Experience with VO scripting, dubbing production, and linguistic performance direction.
• Bachelor’s degree in translation, linguistics, media, or a related field.
