TL;DR
Research Technician - Tothova Lab (Cancer Research) (Molecular and Epigenetic Cancer Research): Developing in vitro and in vivo disease models and conducting molecular, cellular, drug treatment, and next-generation sequencing-related experiments with an accent on myeloid malignancies, immuno-oncology, and the non-coding genome. Focus on processing biological samples, maintaining mouse colonies, analyzing experimental data, and supporting transplantation procedures and research publications.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; 100% onsite

Salary: $47,500–$51,300 per year

What you will do

  • Develop in vitro and in vivo disease models for research into cancer and blood disorders.
  • Conduct molecular biology, cellular biology, drug treatment, and next-generation sequencing-related experiments.
  • Collect and analyze experimental data, prepare reports and summaries, and contribute to grant applications and manuscripts.
  • Maintain mouse colonies and support tissue processing, specimen preparation, and transplantation procedures.
  • Set up, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and clean laboratory equipment and work areas.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records, follow standard operating procedures, and comply with environmental health and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, life sciences, or a related field.
  • Foundational laboratory, molecular biology, and genetics experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with faculty and staff.
  • Analytical thinking, attention to detail, organization, initiative, and curiosity.
  • Ability to commit to at least two years in the role.
  • No prior professional experience is required; the role provides detailed guidance and involves no supervisory responsibilities.

Nice to have

  • Mouse research experience.
  • Basic computational skills.
