Electrical Manufacturing NPI Engineer (Data Center Networking)

Location: Santa Clara, California, USA; onsite

Salary: $140,000–$175,000 annual base pay, with potential bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Lead manufacturing readiness and product transfer for complex, next-generation data center networking products.
• Plan production line layouts, capacity models, capital equipment procurement, and manufacturing technology roadmaps.
• Lead DFM, DFA, DFT, and broader DFX reviews for high-speed interconnects, optical modules, RF paths, and high-density electronics.
• Develop and qualify manufacturing processes for advanced ASIC/FPGA packaging, high-current components, multilayer PCBs, and liquid-cooling systems.
• Architect functional test strategies and oversee automated test equipment development, including BER and signal-quality measurement.
• Provide sustaining engineering support for signal integrity degradation, optical module failures, thermal issues, and system performance loss.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, including at least 3 years in NPI and successful high-volume product launches in data center networking equipment.
• Expertise in high-layer-count PCBA manufacturing, BGA/FC-BGA soldering and rework, and process control for large-format electronic boards.
• Experience designing and qualifying production functional test systems and managing test coverage for complex network systems.
• Expertise with PFMEA, SPC, DOE, and other advanced statistical and quality tools.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills for working with cross-functional, supplier, and executive stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with global contract manufacturers or ODMs producing complex networking or telecommunications equipment.
• Hands-on experience with water, liquid, or immersive cooling systems for network processors.
• Experience with TDR, VNA, optical power analysis, and high-speed data transmission testing.
• Proficiency with JMP or Python for statistical analysis.
