Bridge Coatings/Construction Inspector

Location: Astoria, 11105; field work across bridge infrastructure projects in Nassau and Suffolk Counties

Salary: $114,000–$135,000 per year

What you will do

• Inspect surface preparation, cleaning, and coating system installation on bridge and construction sites.
• Review contractor submittals, certified payrolls, schedules, payment requisitions, work plans, shop drawings, and diversity compliance updates.
• Evaluate contractor and consultant invoices against work progress with Senior Field Inspectors.
• Document daily inspection and construction activities using the Manual for Uniform Record Keeping format and digital PMIS platforms.
• Coordinate LIRR flag protection and support planning for track outages and foul time.
• Escalate critical events, safety issues, and discrepancies to MTA personnel.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant bridge painting, construction, and inspection experience.
• AMPP Coatings Inspector CIP Level I or Bridge Coatings Inspector BCI Level I certification required and must be maintained.
• OSHA-30 training completed within the past 5 years and MTA Roadway Worker Protection certification required.
• Experience verifying construction completion, inspecting coating applications to AMPP standards, and interpreting blueprints, containment plans, and MPT drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and electronic project management systems.
• Valid driver's license; railroad operations experience is strongly preferred.
