What you will do

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques to develop railroad and highway bridge designs.
• Work on steel plate girder, prestressed concrete, segmental, cable, box culvert, and interchange projects.
• Perform structural load calculations, geometric layouts, and quantity development.
• Select appropriate bridge engineering procedures and develop structural details using specialized software.
• Participate in bridge inspections and support structural assessments.
• Collaborate with project teams and perform additional engineering duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; a master’s degree in structural engineering is preferred.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate is preferred; candidates without an EIT may be hired as Rail Bridge Designers and are expected to obtain it for career progression.
• Experience or familiarity with bridge and structural design.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley OpenBridge Modeler, and/or Autodesk InfraWorks.
• Knowledge of structural engineering software such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
• Strong computer skills for structural layout and design, along with good communication and teamwork skills.
