What you will do

  • Serve as department receptionist and respond to inquiries about releasing protected health information.
  • Educate patients, attorneys, insurers, and staff on medical record request procedures and authorization requirements.
  • Review authorizations, follow up on incomplete requests, and process emergency fax requests.
  • Retrieve and release medical records, screen documents for confidential information, and request imaging CDs.
  • Enter, edit, and access request data in computerized tracking and electronic health record systems.
  • Track productivity and provide daily workload statistics to the manager.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in a health-related field.
  • Experience using medical information systems, computer proficiency, and data-entry skills.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and privacy laws and the ability to protect patient PHI.
  • Strong oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • High school education preferred.
