Registration Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid work with occasional onsite attendance

What you will do

• Pre-register adult and pediatric patients through calls, messages, and customer relationship management tools.
• Collect, verify, update, and document patient demographic, financial, insurance, contact, and primary care provider information in Epic.
• Confirm insurance eligibility and benefits, complete Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaires, and manage insurance-related patient questions.
• Assist patients with Patient Gateway registration and electronic completion of consent forms.
• Work eligibility and denial queues, resolve incorrect insurance information, contact payers or patients, and escalate cases to financial counselors.
• Maintain accurate records, review error reports, follow downtime procedures, and collaborate with internal departments and affiliated hospitals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of insurance plans, medical registration, or billing systems.
• Basic knowledge of Epic or other hospital information systems.
• Strong written and verbal customer service and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Ability to handle sensitive patient information and maintain confidentiality under HIPAA policies.

Nice to have

• One year of customer service or hospital/physician office registration experience.
