Lead Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, United States

Salary: $130,000–$145,000 annually, depending on experience, location, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain independently deployable Go microservices and RESTful APIs in a large-scale distributed architecture.
• Develop scalable Angular and TypeScript applications and contribute to shared component libraries.
• Make architectural decisions across multiple services and improve service-to-service communication, deployment, and platform reliability.
• Use Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for containerization, orchestration, and deployment, while contributing across the full software lifecycle.
• Implement unit, integration, smoke, and end-to-end testing using Ginkgo, Jest, and Cypress.
• Drive technical initiatives, collaborate with product, design, and QA, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and apply LLMs and agentic tools to improve development and user experiences.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States and already have employment authorization; current or future sponsorship is not available.
• 5+ years of full-stack software development experience with production systems.
• Strong Go experience building RESTful APIs and microservices, plus proficiency with Angular and TypeScript.
• Understanding of microservices architecture, distributed-system patterns, REST API design, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Production experience with MySQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD, cloud environments such as AWS, and comprehensive testing practices.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience driving cross-team technical initiatives, system design, mentoring, and large-scale microservices environments.
• Familiarity with Ginkgo, Jest, Cypress, Mage, Helm chart development, JWT authentication, and role-based authorization.
• Experience with nonprofit or social-good technology challenges.
