Staff Consultant, Research (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; the role may be performed from anywhere in the country, with hybrid hubs in San Francisco, New York City, and Chicago for hub-based roles.

Annual base pay: $160,000–$195,000 USD in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City; $139,000–$175,000 USD in all other US locations. Performance-based bonuses and equity may also be available.

What you will do

• Design and execute end-to-end research studies using real-world healthcare data and traditional statistical methods.
• Apply AI-enabled techniques to accelerate analysis while maintaining research rigor.
• Lead client conversations, working sessions, presentations, and research delivery as a trusted advisor.
• Translate complex datasets and findings into actionable reports and recommendations for technical and executive audiences.
• Collaborate with product, data science, clinical, and sales teams to connect research insights with product development and strategy.
• Evaluate AI tools and provide enablement and specialist support for Marmot and AI-native research workflows.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a quantitative field such as epidemiology, biostatistics, or health economics, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in healthcare research or analytics, preferably in client-facing consulting or industry settings.
• Experience leading client relationships, managing expectations, and converting ambiguous questions into clear research plans.
• End-to-end RWE/HEOR research experience, including study design, dissemination, descriptive analysis, PSM, IPTW, and related causal inference methods.
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM tools or a demonstrated ability to quickly adopt new AI tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a record of leading research projects from inception to completion.

Nice to have

• Experience with electronic health records, claims data, or other real-world healthcare data sources.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulatory, market, and AI-adoption trends.
• Familiarity with longitudinal or hierarchical data analysis.
• Experience building or using AI-powered analytics pipelines or prompt-based research tools.
