Principal UX Designer - Homepage, Navigation, and Events (Retail)

Location: San Bruno, California, United States; primary location at 850 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA

Annual salary: $143,000–$286,000 for San Bruno or Sunnyvale, California; $110,000–$220,000 for Bentonville, Arkansas. Additional annual or quarterly performance bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Lead user research through interviews, surveys, and site visits, and synthesize actionable insights.
• Develop user journeys, storyboards, interaction designs, and scalable interfaces for high-traffic digital retail experiences.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align UX solutions with business objectives and customer needs.
• Create prototypes, conduct usability testing, and iterate designs based on feedback and performance insights.
• Maintain design specifications, patterns, and style guides for consistency across projects.
• Mentor designers and uphold high-quality design standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or a related area, plus 5 years of relevant experience; or 7 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Extensive experience in user-centered design, user interviews, surveys, journey mapping, prototyping, and usability testing.
• Expertise with current design tools such as Figma and experience with AI-assisted tooling for functional prototypes.
• Experience in retail and promotional design or information architecture and systems design for large-scale faceted experiences.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, prioritization, qualitative and quantitative research, and data analysis skills.
• Ability to design scalable experiences aligned with native mobile conventions, platform guidelines, and accessibility practices.

Nice to have

• Design certification or a master’s degree in a related design or technology field.
• Experience driving product development in a user experience area.
• Retail, supply chain, ecommerce, healthcare, or related industry experience.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and inclusive digital experience design.
