Lead Engineer - Transmission Planning (Power Systems)

Location: Charlotte, NC, United States. Hybrid work is performed remotely and onsite after onboarding; residence within a reasonable daily commute to the designated hirify.global facility is required. Business travel is 5–15%, with possible visits to field sites and plants.

What you will do

• Provide technical expertise and guidance for complex transmission planning and engineering problems.
• Plan, coordinate, estimate, schedule, and monitor complex engineering projects.
• Conduct engineering studies, power system analyses, and evaluations of grid solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, documentation, correspondence, and recommendations.
• Develop engineering standards, process enhancements, and long-term system-wide solutions.
• Coach and mentor engineering and non-degreed engineering professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a master's degree in engineering in lieu of the bachelor's degree.
• At least 8 years of engineering work experience.
• Professional Engineer registration.
• Ability to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
• Advanced engineering skills, independent judgment, and strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice to have

• Electrical engineering degree, preferably with a master's concentration in power systems.
• Proficiency with Siemens PSS/E and PowerGEM TARA.
• Experience in transmission planning, power flow analysis, and developing solutions for grid issues.
• Experience with SERC, NATF, NERC Standards, FERC requirements, and the electric utility industry.
• Experience balancing multiple projects with overlapping schedules and applying project management principles.
