What you will do
- Lead reliability- and economics-driven transmission planning studies, including voltage, thermal, photovoltaic, transfer limit, short-circuit, and stability assessments.
- Analyze complex transmission systems across multiple voltage levels and document results, recommendations, and technical findings.
- Improve the precision and efficiency of transmission planning methods and develop subject-matter expertise.
- Collaborate with internal teams, industry peers, regional organizations, and ISO stakeholders.
- Participate in transmission and substation site inspections, industry workshops, training, and user group meetings.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, collaborate across departments, and direct contractors on company standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degrees or certifications such as MSEE or PE are additionally considered.
- 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Knowledge of transmission planning, operations, engineering design, analytics, modeling, calculations, and engineering documentation.
- Experience with power system studies, including power flow, stability, and short-circuit analysis.
- Proficiency with power system analytics software such as PSS/E, TARA, ASPEN, or Enfuzion.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including NERC, NPCC, ISO, and PUC standards.
