Transmission Planning Engineers (Power Systems)

Salary: $78,000–$98,000+ base salary annually, dependent on experience and location

What you will do

• Conduct and lead reliability- and economically driven transmission planning studies, including voltage, thermal, photovoltaic, transfer limit, short circuit, and stability assessments.
• Analyze complex transmission systems across multiple voltage levels and document results through reports, data analysis, and presentations.
• Improve the precision and efficiency of transmission planning methods and processes.
• Develop subject-matter expertise and mentor or support other team members.
• Collaborate with internal teams and industry peers on regional activities involving NPCC and independent system operators.
• Participate in transmission and substation site inspections, industry workshops, training, and software user-group meetings as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Power Systems, or a similar discipline.
• 2+ years of utility or energy industry experience are highly preferred.
• Knowledge of transmission planning criteria, guidelines, and standards, including NERC and NPCC requirements.
• Ability to work in the Rochester office and participate in site inspections and industry events as needed.
• Applicants must meet applicable immigration requirements to work legally in the United States.
