What you will do

  • Evaluate components, materials, inks, and products to characterize material properties and identify probable causes of failure.
  • Operate analytical instruments and provide high-quality data, images, and detailed laboratory reports.
  • Collaborate with engineering partners and the R&D and manufacturing communities to solve product problems.
  • Manage task requests, priorities, delivery dates, workload, and equipment issues using laboratory software and SFT LIMS.
  • Perform method development, document operating procedures, and support quality systems through proper technique and gauge studies.
  • Maintain laboratory safety, instrument calibration, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting practices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of analytical or R&D laboratory technician experience.
  • AA/AS degree in chemistry, metals, materials, physics, computers, electronics, or a similar technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of routine laboratory procedures, equipment, and material science fundamentals.
  • Ability to set up, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and operate advanced analytical instruments in non-routine situations.
  • Ability to manage complex tasks, prioritize work, communicate effectively, and collaborate with technicians and engineering partners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment with changing priorities and urgent timelines.

Nice to have

  • Expertise with one or more analytical instruments and laboratory protocols.
  • Experience mentoring and training laboratory personnel.
