Staff Project Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Melbourne, Florida, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

What you will do

• Lead project engineering through all phases of external-customer and internally driven development projects.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, risks, and status reporting for program and company leadership.
• Coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply-chain functions.
• Escalate program-level issues and support appropriate resourcing for complex technical projects.
• Present engineering design reviews and status reports to customers and executive leadership.
• Contribute to proposal-writing efforts and drive projects through development and production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, aerospace, systems engineering, or computer science.
• At least 8 years of relevant engineering or project experience.
• Proficiency with project management tools including Microsoft Project and Jira.
• Technical familiarity with electrical, mechanical, software, and systems-of-systems engineering.
• Strong understanding of aerospace systems engineering processes from concept through production, including the space-system life cycle.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite and subsystem development.
• Familiarity with communications systems and RF systems engineering.
• Experience in startup environments with limited resources and staff.
• Experience managing research and development, new product development, government, or commercial customer projects.
