Patient Access Specialist - PRN

Location: Onsite at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia; applicants must reside and be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform admitting and patient access duties for hospital patients.
• Assign medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, process physician orders, and complete medical necessity and compliance checks.
• Pre-register patients, verify insurance eligibility, calculate financial liabilities, and collect point-of-service and past-due balances.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient forms; obtain signatures and document distribution.
• Use insurance verification and ABN software to support accurate benefit data, clean claims, and Medicare notification requirements.
• Audit accounts, correct documentation, prepare reports, and operate the hospital telephone switchboard while providing compassionate customer service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of customer service experience.
• CRCR certification required within nine months of hire; certification is company-paid.
• Ability to work onsite at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
• Must reside and be authorized to work in the United States.
