Focus on validating insurance eligibility, documenting coverage and liabilities, processing collections, and protecting confidential health information.

Location: Onsite at Lowell General Hospital, 10 Research Place, Chelmsford, MA. Full-time day shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Three weeks of full-time day-shift training are required.

Pay range: $20.12–$25.15 per hour, based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

  • Complete pre-registration for inpatients and outpatients by collecting demographic, financial, clinical, and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, plan codes, referrals, authorizations, pre-certifications, and required notifications.
  • Explain patient financial liabilities and collect, post, and document payments in the registration system.
  • Obtain treatment consents and explain signature requirements to patients and representatives.
  • Provide courteous service while coordinating with patients, physicians, nursing units, office staff, and insurance companies.
  • Maintain confidential financial and health information in accordance with hospital policy and HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer literacy, accurate data entry, and the ability to learn electronic health record and patient registration applications.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, telephone, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Knowledge of private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, medical terminology, and patient registration systems.
  • Ability to work onsite in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, during the stated full-time day shift.
