Mechanical Design Engineer II (Power Distribution)

What you will do

• Lead communication, scheduling, and the complete design cycle for moderately complex projects and customer orders.
• Design overhead and underground switchgear products according to internal standards, customer requirements, quality expectations, and applicable IEEE, NEC, IEC, ANSI, UL, and NEMA standards.
• Contribute to design feasibility assessments for customers and application experts.
• Mentor, train, and coach design team members while maintaining technical capability across the team.
• Identify and resolve root causes through structured problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
• Provide technical support and collaborate with Product Development, Aftermarket Support, Application Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college.
• At least 3 years of experience in a technical engineering role.
• CAD experience.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, analytical, design, and quantitative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with industry standards and design products within customer lead times and quality requirements.

Nice to have

• CREO CAD experience.
• Leadership, training, and change management experience.
• Experience with continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and problem-solving strategies.
• Experience in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment and with reliability design tools, including DFM, FMEA, FEA, GD&T, and DOE.
• Experience with Oracle J.D. Edwards, industry standards, or power distribution.
