TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer II (Power Generation) (CAD/PLM): Designing and developing mechanical components, controller assemblies, and supporting electronic hardware for generator and power-generation products with an accent on thermal management, mechanical analysis, and product validation. Focus on creating 3D models and drawings, solving structural and thermal design challenges, building prototypes, and taking products from concept through production release.
Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA. Occasional travel to facilities, suppliers, and customer sites is required at less than 10%.

What you will do
- Design mechanical components, electronic controller assemblies, switching mechanisms, and control modules for generator products.
- Develop accessory products including automatic voltage regulators, battery chargers, and I/O modules.
- Design thermal management and heat-dissipation solutions for electronic assemblies.
- Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, specifications, and product lifecycle management data using CAD and PLM systems.
- Perform structural, thermal, tolerance stack-up, vibration, shock, and fatigue analysis to validate designs.
- Build prototypes, conduct mechanical testing, lead design reviews, and support manufacturing, suppliers, production, and field issue resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related engineering field.
- At least 2 years of mechanical engineering experience in product design and development, including taking products from concept through production.
- Expert proficiency with 3D CAD, PLM, and drawing release systems.
- Strong knowledge of FEA, thermal analysis, tolerance stack-up, GD&T, and engineering drawing standards.
- Experience with manufacturing processes for sheet metal, injection-molded plastics, casting, and electromechanical assembly.
- Candidates requiring sponsorship now or in the future, including OPT or H-1B transfer, cannot be considered.
Nice to have
- Experience with Creo and Windchill PLM.
- Experience with controls products, embedded systems, generators, power electronics, or related industries.
- Experience with thermal analysis or thermal management.
- Experience designing enclosures, sheet metal, plastics, and electromechanical assemblies.
