TL;DR
Machine Shop Lead (CNC Machining): Leading CNC machining operations for complex prototype and production hardware with an accent on multi-axis machining, process troubleshooting, and production quality. Focus on coordinating machinists, optimizing tooling and setups, improving cycle time and repeatability, and solving complex machining challenges on the shop floor.
Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite, 2nd shift
Pay range: $52–$72 per hour

What you will do
- Coordinate daily work across the machining team, maintain production continuity, and act as a delegate for the supervisor.
- Lead setup and operation of 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis CNC machining centers for prototype and production hardware.
- Troubleshoot tooling, fixture alignment, machine limitations, process instability, and machine recovery issues.
- Develop machining strategies covering tooling, fixturing, setup methodology, and programming approaches.
- Drive improvements in cycle time, setup reduction, tooling performance, process repeatability, throughput, and quality.
- Maintain machining documentation, support inspections and root-cause investigations, and champion EHS and safety standards.
Requirements
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls and eligibility to work in the United States.
- 5–8 years of CNC machining experience with strong multi-axis expertise.
- Advanced proficiency with Siemens and Heidenhain controllers.
- Advanced understanding of GD&T, machining process optimization, dynamic work offsets, and advanced setup methodologies.
- Experience troubleshooting complex machining processes and setups, working independently, and taking technical ownership.
- Experience leading peers, coordinating workloads, and mentoring less-experienced technicians.
Nice to have
- Experience machining additively manufactured components.
- Familiarity with gantry CNC systems and advanced machining technologies.
- Experience in rapid production or prototype manufacturing environments.
- Previous experience as a shift lead, supervisor delegate, or formal peer mentor.
