Manager I - Estimating (Solar)

Location: Avon, Minnesota, United States; remote work indicated by #LI - Remote

Salary: $121,680–$176,436 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

What you will do

• Lead the preconstruction estimating team through bidding for utility-scale solar projects.
• Review estimates, bids, technical compliance, project risks, opportunities, and pricing.
• Coordinate estimating procedures, preconstruction activities, site visits, cost studies, and standard cost data.
• Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction, Business Development, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, engineers, and clients.
• Mentor and develop estimators through training and diverse work experiences.
• Support contract negotiations, project execution strategies, executive project reviews, and handoffs from estimating to construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related discipline.
• 5 or more years of applicable preconstruction or construction experience, or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
• Experience in estimating, project management, contract negotiations, and construction methods.
• Strong emphasis on safety and quality.
• Ability to use company estimating software, perform bid reviews, evaluate project requirements, and include quality and safety costs in estimates.
• Ability to assess subcontractors against corporate risk management criteria.

Nice to have

• Experience leading estimating or preconstruction teams for utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
• Strong understanding of estimating methodologies, construction means and methods, procurement, and project execution.
