AI/ML Lead (Surgical Robotics)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; fully onsite. The role may require up to 10% domestic and international travel.

Base pay range: $118,000–$179,035.50 per year.

What you will do

• Define architecture and technical requirements for analytics and AI/ML solutions across edge, OT, and cloud manufacturing environments.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of ML solutions, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model development, validation, deployment, and lifecycle management.
• Build and operate batch and real-time inference pipelines with monitoring and service-level objectives for latency, availability, and throughput.
• Convert manufacturing challenges involving yield, downtime, quality, and throughput into measurable use cases, KPIs, and ROI targets.
• Establish MLOps and governance practices, including model versioning, experiment tracking, reproducibility, access control, and audit trails.
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, IT, and R&D to scale predictive quality, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and process-optimization solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• At least 7 years of experience delivering analytics or ML solutions in production environments.
• Production-scale AI/ML delivery experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial/OT, healthcare, MedTech, or another regulated industry.
• Strong Python skills; experience with scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch, Spark/PySpark, SQL, and data modeling.
• Hands-on MLOps experience with orchestration, CI/CD, model serving, monitoring, automated retraining, and experiment tracking such as MLflow.
• Experience with industrial data sources, time-series and process analytics, model governance, validation, security, and regulated-environment compliance such as CSV/GxP.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, Spark/Delta, cloud analytics, lakehouse platforms, and collaboration with data engineering teams.
• Familiarity with ISA-95/ISA-88 and digital manufacturing architectures.
• Experience building dashboards with Power BI or Tableau.
