Manager, Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (Biotechnology)

Salary: USD 107,445.10–145,366.90 annually

What you will do

• Partner with Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Manufacturing, Facilities and Engineering, and Warehouse Operations to strengthen safety culture and manage EHS risks.
• Own critical EHS programs covering hazardous gas safety, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fall protection, hazardous work, and environmental compliance.
• Lead ergonomic assessments and implement controls that improve employee well-being and reduce musculoskeletal injury risks.
• Develop risk assessments and engineering, administrative, and procedural controls for operational hazards.
• Use EHS performance data and leading indicators to identify trends, drive continuous improvement, and support business reviews.
• Lead inspections, audits, regulatory support, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective and preventive actions.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree; or a master’s degree with 2 years of EHSS experience; or a bachelor’s degree with 4 years; or an associate’s degree with 8 years; or a high school diploma/GED with 10 years of EHSS experience in a cGMP manufacturing environment.
• Experience applying Cal/OSHA regulations and other relevant EHS standards.
• Experience leading EHS programs in manufacturing or laboratory settings and influencing staff and management.
• Strong communication, presentation, technical writing, organization, and project execution skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and software for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.

Nice to have

• Degree in safety, industrial hygiene, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, biology, or another life science field.
• 5–7 years of EHS experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related life sciences industry.
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
