TL;DR
Public Safety Officer - 2nd Shift Weekends (Sat/Sun 3-11pm) (Healthcare Security): Protecting patients, staff, visitors, and property through patrols, emergency response, investigations, alarm monitoring, and surveillance with an accent on crisis management, de-escalation, and patient-facing safety support. Focus on responding to medical and potentially violent incidents, gathering evidence, preparing accurate reports, and maintaining safety across hospital and community clinic locations.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; 100% onsite. Weekend second shift: Saturday and Sunday, 3:00–11:00 p.m. The role may include special duties, off-site locations, and other shifts.

Salary: $46,300–$51,400 per year.

What you will do

  • Patrol buildings and grounds, identify unsafe conditions, monitor alarms and surveillance cameras, and protect people and property.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, potentially violent situations, active threats, and suspected criminal conduct.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, complaints, and other potential misconduct; interview involved parties and maintain evidence accountability.
  • Prepare accurate incident reports, logs, and routine correspondence.
  • Perform fire extinguisher inspections, respond to fire drills, and escort patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Support special assignments such as bike patrol and community service officer duties across administrative buildings, ambulatory care centers, and community-based clinics.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least one year of relevant security experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, risk analysis, organization, crisis management, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license required.
  • Successful initial and annual criminal background checks required. CPR/AED/First Aid, Narcan, and AVADE/HDTS de-escalation certifications must be obtained and maintained; training is provided.
