Marine Mechanic Technician A

Location: Long Beach, California, USA; onsite marine equipment and vessel work

Salary: $29.15–$40.10 per hour, depending on hiring locality.

What you will do

• Perform mechanical maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and adjustments on vessels and marine response equipment.
• Maintain gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, hydraulic power units, oil skimming systems, and related equipment.
• Disassemble units, repair or replace parts, and reassemble equipment.
• Enter maintenance records into preventive maintenance programs and maintain equipment files.
• Prepare work orders and material cost estimates while maintaining tools and an organized work area.
• Participate in the on-call emergency response program.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of overall relevant work experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in marine engine maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, vessels, hydraulic power units, oil skimming systems, and related marine equipment.
• Ability to diagnose common equipment malfunctions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Accuracy, thoroughness, attention to detail, prioritization, and ability to manage diverse responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of welding practices and procedures.
• Relevant marine mechanics certifications or licenses.
