Load & Haul: Senior Design Engineer - Mechanical / Electrical

Location: Peterlee, United Kingdom; onsite five days a week. Full-time schedule of 36.5 hours across five days. Up to 10% travel.

Salary: £57,737–£72,171 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical design and integration of electrical systems within complex off-highway vehicle platforms.
• Design components, brackets, enclosures, harness routing paths, and installation schemes.
• Own cost, quality, validation, and schedules for assigned engineering projects.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams on manufacturability, serviceability, tolerance stack-up, assembly feasibility, and installation repeatability.
• Lead design reviews and ensure compliance with electrical and mechanical design standards.
• Coordinate prototype builds, testing, and analysis covering fit, form, function, and durability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related accredited engineering discipline.
• Experience with vehicle systems integration, routing, packaging, structural interfaces, and installation design.
• Experience leading multiple engineering projects from concept through production in a cross-functional environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems and their interaction in complex products.
• Experience with Creo, Vis View, and Teamcenter.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, installation methods, and design-for-assembly principles.

Nice to have

• Experience with heavy equipment or mining applications.
• Mechanical engineering experience involving structures, packaging, and durability.
