Senior Manager, Applied AI Engineering (AI Studio)

What you will do

• Lead and develop a high-performing Applied AI engineering team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and career development.
• Serve as Product Owner and Architect for an AI Studio delivery team while leading the Forward Deployed Engineering practice.
• Translate complex business opportunities into technical roadmaps, staffing plans, milestones, acceptance criteria, support models, and measurable outcomes.
• Guide decisions across conventional software, automation, ML, deep learning, GenAI, RAG, agents, and human-led workflows.
• Lead multidisciplinary delivery from discovery and feasibility through implementation, evaluation, deployment, rollout, stabilization, and support transition.
• Establish reusable architectures, APIs, accelerators, evaluation standards, playbooks, and delivery scorecards.

Requirements

• Doctorate with 2+ years, Master’s with 10–12 years, Bachelor’s with 12–14 years, or Diploma with 14–18 years of experience in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Direct people leadership experience covering hiring, coaching, performance, workload prioritization, career development, inclusion, succession, and team health.
• Experience leading multiple complex production AI, automation, data, or enterprise software deployments through launch, stabilization, support transition, and measurable outcomes.
• Strong technical credibility across full-stack engineering, data and knowledge systems, ML/GenAI/RAG/agents, APIs, integrations, cloud, evaluation, security, governance, and production operations.
• Ability to create technical plans, allocate capacity, manage dependencies and trade-offs, and communicate evidence and risk to senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Bedrock, SageMaker, Databricks, Spark, Kubernetes, serverless or event platforms, infrastructure as code, and API management.
• Experience with observability, MLOps/LLMOps, SLOs, incident programs, capacity planning, and FinOps.
• Knowledge of access-aware retrieval, vector or graph stores, knowledge graphs, agent gateways, durable agents, automated evaluation, red teaming, document, or vision systems.
• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, GxP, validated, or globally distributed environments.
