Senior Data Scientist & AI Engineer – Machine Learning & NLP (AI)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work model. Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and optimize advanced machine learning models and tailored AI solutions for real-world financial-industry challenges.
• Fine-tune and extend open-source and commercial Large Language Models, including Generative AI models.
• Improve AI performance through Retrieval-Augmented Generation techniques and vector database integration.
• Perform exploratory data analysis and feature engineering to maximize model effectiveness.
• Build agentic AI systems using agent harness capabilities, MCP servers, and A2A and ACP communication protocols.
• Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and stakeholders while testing, validating, and documenting AI solutions.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional experience in machine learning and AI development.
• Strong experience developing, deploying, and optimizing agentic AI solutions.
• Proficiency in Python and AI/ML frameworks and tools including TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face.
• Hands-on experience with RAG techniques, vector databases, NLP, cloud deployment on GCP, AWS, or Azure, and MLOps practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• English at C1 level or higher and an existing legal right to work in the European Union are required.

Nice to have

• RLHF expertise and Generative AI model training, fine-tuning, and deployment experience.
• Knowledge of ethical AI principles and model interpretability.
• Fluency in French or willingness to learn French.
