Senior Applied AI Engineer (LLM)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal. On-site role; remote work is not available.

What you will do

• Develop agentic flows using off-the-shelf LLMs for hardware design and requirements management use cases.
• Apply tool-calling, planning, skills, sub-agents, MCP servers, and CLIs to build AI-driven product features.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and designers in an agile, sprint-based environment.
• Build evaluation pipelines, define metrics, collect data, and extend test suites and benchmarks.
• Benchmark models, prompts, and approaches for speed, cost, and accuracy, using techniques such as RAG, fine-tuning, caching, prompt compression, and distillation.
• Participate in the full AI product lifecycle from experimentation to deployment and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Profound knowledge of LLM engineering and production evaluation of LLM-based features.
• Advanced Python development skills.
• Production experience with agentic loops, tool-calling, agent orchestration, MCP servers, and evaluation and benchmarking pipelines.
• Experience optimizing AI systems for cost and latency, including context compression and model cascading.
• Ability to plan experiments and execute tasks autonomously with attention to detail.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams to ship customer-facing features.

Nice to have

• Experience with synthetic test data creation, distillation, orchestration debugging, or model fine-tuning.
• Experience with hardware engineering software or end-to-end harnesses for agentic loops.
• Experience building high-concurrency asynchronous services.
• Experience with stateful agentic frameworks such as LangGraph.
