TL;DR
Hazardous Waste Coordinator (Environmental Compliance): Coordinating the collection, storage, documentation, transportation, and disposal of laboratory hazardous and non-hazardous waste with an accent on regulatory compliance, inspections, and environmental stewardship. Focus on managing waste inventories and manifests, coordinating TSDF shipments, responding to spills, and implementing waste minimization initiatives.

Location: Earth City, Missouri, USA; onsite laboratory role. Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with overtime as needed.

Salary: $19–$22 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

  • Coordinate the collection, segregation, packaging, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous laboratory waste.
  • Manage waste inventories and the full waste lifecycle, including solvents, acids, caustics, chemicals, soil samples, glass, and other regulated waste streams.
  • Prepare manifests, waste profiles, land disposal restriction forms, certificates of destruction, shipping records, and compliance reports.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of accumulation and storage areas, document findings, and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Coordinate chemical lab packs, drum shipments, spill response activities, emergency supplies, and personal protective equipment inspections.
  • Support waste minimization initiatives, environmental audits, regulatory inspections, and laboratory safety programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a chemical environment and follow standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move 25–50 pounds regularly.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
  • Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
  • Strong organization, problem-solving, judgment, documentation, and task-prioritization skills.

Nice to have

  • Two or more years of experience in the environmental industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and documentation practices.
