Machinist (Aerospace Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Study blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, machining sequences, and setup requirements.
• Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, grinders, conventional machines, and special-purpose equipment.
• Select and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials.
• Calculate and adjust machining parameters, including speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.
• Monitor machine operation, troubleshoot malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust controls or program data.
• Perform trial runs, first-piece inspections, and final verification of finished workpieces.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or two to three years of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts.
• Ability to measure, mark, and scribe material and workpiece dimensions.
• Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear during regular job duties.
• Ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
