Location: Knoxville, Tennessee, USA; onsite

Anticipated hiring range: $45,000–$51,000 per year

What you will do

  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, cash receipts, procurement card activity, travel documentation, and sponsored-project financial records.
  • Reconcile departmental accounts, review labor distribution and effort certification data, investigate discrepancies, and support cost transfers and funding changes.
  • Coordinate hiring packets, terminations, leave requests, retirement forms, job offers, onboarding, personnel inquiries, and recruitment records.
  • Manage I-9 E-Verify workflows, Net ID requests, visiting scholar and guest processes, and H-1B and J-1 visa documentation.
  • Support purchases of equipment, laboratory and office supplies, chemicals, and classroom materials while maintaining procurement and asset records.
  • Maintain departmental files, account records, timetables, record-retention processes, visitor support, phone coverage, events, and special projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of relevant accounting and human resources experience.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and strong organization, communication, customer service, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing a heavy workload and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, HR, or a related field.
  • Academic-environment experience and experience with recruiting, hiring, employee relations, or foreign-national employees.
  • Knowledge of state and federal contracts, grant financial requirements, UT fiscal and HR policies, Oracle, Huron, or DASH.
  • Experience with I-9 E-Verify, USCIS, and personnel maintenance processes.
