Associate Specialist, Patient Access

Location: Onsite at Carilion - Rockbridge Hospital in Lexington, Virginia; candidates must reside and be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform admitting, pre-registration, and patient access duties for hospital services.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, process physician orders, and complete compliance checks.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, select appropriate plan codes, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, observation, and other patient forms; obtain signatures and document required information.
• Conduct account audits, correct records, complete reporting, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
• Operate the telephone switchboard and deliver compassionate customer service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite at Carilion - Rockbridge Hospital in Lexington, VA.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States.
• Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI-based process improvements.
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
