Salary: $20.12–$25.15 per hour

What you will do
- Coordinate incoming consultation referrals from physician practices, hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities.
- Compile clinical information, including physician notes, patient history, laboratory results, and imaging data.
- Schedule consultations, confirm patient demographics, verify insurance eligibility, and obtain required referrals.
- Review insurance coverage, benefits, patient responsibility, and out-of-pocket costs; collect pre-service payments and establish payment plans when needed.
- Complete and track Massachusetts Medicaid, disability, Health Safety Net, and related program applications.
- Process medical record requests, document account activity, and collaborate with Social Work, Case Management, Billing, Contracting, and clinical teams.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of related experience in insurance, managed care referral processes, a private physician’s office, or hospital registration.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance benefits.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication, systems, spreadsheet, and business technology skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive financial discussions, stressful situations, regulations, and procedural changes.
- Ability to work onsite in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., for 40 hours per week.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Three years of related experience.
- MassHealth Certified Application Counselor certification.
