TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer I – Tooling Specialist (Manufacturing/Tooling): Managing tooling readiness and lifecycle for reliable production with an accent on inspection, traceability, preventive maintenance, and cross-functional manufacturing support. Focus on troubleshooting tooling issues, enabling NPI and equipment qualification, and driving Lean, 5S, and data-driven process improvements.

Location: 100% onsite in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States; production floor and lab environment, minimal travel under 10%, and extended hours as needed.

Base compensation: $54,678–$101,546 per year.

What you will do

  • Manage the tooling lifecycle, including procurement, inspection, inventory, replacement, repair, and refurbishment.
  • Stage tooling for production schedules and changeovers, and maintain documentation and traceability records.
  • Inspect tooling against drawings, specifications, and quality requirements while troubleshooting safety, quality, and efficiency issues.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, vendors, and internal engineering teams.
  • Support preventive maintenance, NPI launches, equipment commissioning and qualification, and tooling performance monitoring.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Lean, 5S, waste reduction, DOE, validation, alternate materials, and data-driven problem solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel and general business applications.
  • Basic CAD knowledge.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in St. Petersburg, Florida, in a production floor and lab environment.

Nice to have

  • Quality Management Systems experience.
  • CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks.
  • ERP knowledge, preferably SAP.
  • PLM experience, preferably Agile.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
