TL;DR
Technical Data Author (S1000D): Developing and maintaining structured technical publication content, including S1000D data modules, IETMs, and NATOPS/NATIP publications, with an accent on engineering source-data analysis, configuration control, and DoD compliance. Focus on authoring XML-based content in EAGLE and Arbortext, maintaining traceability, and validating technical data for defense programs.

Location: On-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; US citizenship required; no visa support or C2C

What you will do

  • Develop, author, revise, and maintain S1000D data modules and structured content for IETMs, NATOPS/NATIP publications, technical manuals, and related products.
  • Analyze engineering source data and create operational, maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing, inspection, and safety content.
  • Apply S1000D structures, information codes, applicability, metadata, references, project business rules, and BREX requirements.
  • Use EAGLE, Arbortext, XML-based authoring tools, and Common Source Database systems.
  • Maintain traceability, configuration control, and change control for technical publication content.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Product Lifecycle Management, Curriculum, Program Management, subject matter experts, and Graphic Artists; participate in reviews and validation activities.

Requirements

  • US citizenship and eligibility for a DoD Security Clearance are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in technical publications, technical data development, structured authoring, or a related field.
  • Experience interpreting engineering source data and translating technical information into accurate operational or maintenance content.
  • Experience with XML-based structured authoring and strong written communication, organizational, attention-to-detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • The role is performed on-site in Oklahoma City; visa sponsorship and C2C arrangements are not available.

Nice to have

  • DoD aerospace, aviation, training system, or other complex defense program experience.
  • Experience with Navy IETMs, NATOPS/NATIP publications, S1000D data modules, or an EAGLE-based CSDB.
  • Experience with technical publication validation and verification, configuration and change control, MIL-STD and Navy requirements, EVM, or AS9100 quality systems.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
