What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop technical writers, editors, illustrators, and content specialists.
• Define and execute the corporate technical publications strategy, budgets, technology roadmap, standards, and governance processes.
• Oversee the creation, review, publishing, revision, and maintenance of manuals, installation guides, service literature, illustrated parts catalogs, service bulletins, release notes, and knowledge base content.
• Drive structured authoring, content reuse, modular documentation, digital content strategies, workflow KPIs, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate translation and localization programs with external language-service vendors, including SOWs, SLAs, translation memory, and delivery across global markets.
• Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Service, Compliance, Legal, dealers, installers, and end users to ensure accurate, safe, clear, and compliant documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent demonstrable experience may be considered.
• At least 7 years of progressive technical documentation experience for engineered products, including 5+ years in a regulated or safety-critical industry.
• At least 5 years of direct people-management experience leading writers, illustrators, or content teams.
• Experience owning the full documentation lifecycle and managing cross-functional delivery with Engineering, Product Management, and Service organizations.
• Hands-on experience with XML structured authoring, including DITA and/or S1000D, and a component content management system.
• Experience managing documentation budgets, vendors, translation/localization programs, quality processes, and revision control.

Nice to have

• Experience with PTC Windchill, PTC Arbortext Editor and Publishing Engine, CAD-to-illustration tools, and 3D technical illustration platforms.
• Experience documenting engines, alternators, ATS/switchgear, energy storage systems, or grid-interactive equipment.
• Experience integrating documentation with field-service platforms, dealer portals, and translation management systems across 15+ languages.
• Knowledge of ASD-STE100, EU machinery regulations, UL 2200, CSA, EPA/CARB requirements, Agile/DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Git-based docs-as-code, UX writing, CIDM, and AI-assisted authoring.
• Master's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field.
