What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop technical writers, editors, illustrators, and content specialists.
• Set priorities, manage workloads, and ensure timely delivery across documentation projects.
• Own the documentation lifecycle from authoring and illustration through review, translation, publishing, and revision control.
• Oversee operator manuals, installation guides, service literature, illustrated parts catalogs, service bulletins, release notes, user guides, and knowledge base content.
• Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Service, Compliance, and Legal to validate content and maintain accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate external translation and localization vendors while improving structured authoring, content reuse, publishing workflows, and documentation quality monitoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent demonstrable experience may be considered.
• 7 years of progressive technical documentation experience for engineered products, including 5+ years in a regulated or safety-critical industry.
• 5 years of direct people-management experience leading writers, illustrators, or content teams.
• Hands-on experience with XML structured authoring, DITA and/or S1000D, and a component content management system.
• Experience managing cross-functional delivery, translation/localization vendors, budgets, statements of work, service-level agreements, and translation memory governance.
• Knowledge of ISO/IEC 82079-1, ISO 20607, content architecture, information design, project management, and data-driven quality improvement.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field.
• Production experience with PTC Windchill, PTC Arbortext Editor, or Publishing Engine.
• Experience with CAD-to-illustration tools, 3D technical illustration, field-service platforms, dealer portals, and translation programs covering 15+ languages.
• Knowledge of ASD-STE100, EU machinery requirements, UL 2200, CSA, EPA/CARB documentation, Agile/DevOps delivery, Jira, Confluence, Git-based documentation workflows, UX writing, and AI-assisted authoring.
