CEI Inspector Aid/Inspector I (Transportation Construction)

Location: Georgia, USA; field sites across counties in the state of Georgia

Salary: $35,000–$62,000 per year ($16–$30 per hour)

What you will do

• Perform routine calculations, inspections, and documentation to verify compliance with construction contracts.
• Inspect truck load tickets for aggregate base course, borrow material, and asphaltic concrete.
• Conduct materials sampling, inspection, and testing using field equipment such as slump cones, air meters, measuring wheels, tapes, and thermometers.
• Measure pay-item quantities, support project close-out, and prepare required Department documentation.
• Work at remote construction sites around heavy equipment, drilling rigs, explosives, and environmental contamination.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• General knowledge of mathematics and proficiency with calculators and office equipment.
• Ability to learn and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, and internet tools.
• Valid motor vehicle license in accordance with Georgia law.
• Required GDOT WECS, GDOT Field Concrete Technician, GSWCC Level 1a, and Group 1 CEI training certifications or passing scores must be obtained within six months of beginning work on a GDOT project.

Nice to have

• At least 1.5 years of experience as a CEI Inspector Aid.
• Knowledge of highway-construction materials, methods, and equipment.
• Knowledge of geometry and ability to interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
• Ability to prepare or review notes and reports.
• Group 2 GDOT CEI training test passing scores.
