What you will do
- Machine graphite, silicon carbide, and other specialty materials according to blueprints, customer specifications, and internal work instructions.
- Operate 4th- and 5th-axis mills, live tooling lathes, surface and centerless grinders, cup grinders, bandsaws, hand tools, and precision measuring equipment.
- Complete customer machining jobs according to weekly schedules and on-time shipping requirements.
- Make complex CNC program adjustments and create hand-typed code for chip prevention and fixturing.
- Collaborate with programmers on new-part programs and fixture creation.
- Follow safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing quality guidelines; perform preventative maintenance and housekeeping when assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Advanced knowledge of machining methods, precision measurement, machine drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Ability to make complex code adjustments within CNC programs and use computers and machine controls.
- Ability to work any shift as required and comply with federally mandated U.S. export control requirements.
- Completion of a pre-employment physical; ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive, physically demanding work involving standing, bending, kneeling, ladders, confined spaces, and varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to wear required PPE and maintain visual acuity, balance, coordination, and hand-force capacity for precision work.
Nice to have
- Experience using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM).
- Experience with programming software.
- Experience working in an ISO 9000/14000 environment.
