Director, Government Affairs & Public Policy - France m/f

What you will do

• Develop and execute France-specific government affairs and public policy strategies aligned with global and EMEA priorities.
• Monitor and influence legislative, regulatory, geopolitical, and policy developments across French ministries, agencies, regulators, and local authorities.
• Build relationships with government stakeholders, procurement authorities, industry associations, chambers of commerce, and think tanks.
• Support public-sector market access by engaging with procurement policy owners and aligning advocacy with government buying frameworks.
• Advise hirify.global France and regional leadership on policy, procurement, regulatory, reputational, and compliance risks.
• Lead or matrix-manage policy resources, consultants, trade association participation, and complex cross-functional programs.

Requirements

• 10–15 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, public-sector procurement, or related fields.
• Strong experience and established networks within France’s public-sector procurement ecosystem are required.
• Deep understanding of French political, regulatory, legislative, and public procurement systems, including large-scale IT, digital, and services procurement.
• Track record of senior-level engagement with French government officials and public-sector stakeholders, including national or local bodies.
• Degree in law, public policy, business administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience and demonstrated competence.
• Excellent French communication skills and business-level English are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in technology, digital services, or another regulated industry.
• Previous work in government, regulatory agencies, public-sector procurement bodies, or policy advisory organizations in France.
• Knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI, data protection, cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, and France-specific AI policy frameworks.
• Experience coordinating France public policy positions within an EMEA or global framework.
