Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Sandy Hook, Connecticut, with residence required within the listed Connecticut ZIP-code territory. Remote-field work from home with a mobile office or vehicle, in-person property appointments, and occasional travel outside the assigned area.

Salary: $78,862.06–$112,500 annually, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess residential and commercial property damage from accidents and weather events.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage, policy terms, regulations, and damage estimates to determine claim validity.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed claims reports using mobile and desktop tools.
• Collaborate with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders while resolving inquiries and difficult conversations.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits and company guidelines.

Requirements

• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, interpret policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for field and remote claims documentation.
• Physical agility for frequent lifting, carrying, ladder climbing, roof navigation at various heights, and crawling in tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license required; residence within the assigned Connecticut ZIP-code territory required.
• Successful completion of required training, licensing examinations, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and possible pre-employment assessments.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property claims experience.
• Knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling practices.
• Residential and commercial building construction knowledge.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Xactimate and XactContents experience.
