Department Leader, Maintenance Controls (PLC)

Location: Opelika, Alabama, United States; onsite work in manufacturing, warehouse, or production environments.

Salary: $80,000–$133,000 annual target base pay. California and New York metro range: $88,000–$146,000. Additional compensation may include an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day maintenance controls support for plant equipment, automation systems, PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, instrumentation, and manufacturing systems.
• Provide technical direction during troubleshooting, repairs, installations, start-ups, and continuous improvement activities.
• Plan and prioritize work orders, preventive and predictive maintenance, calibrations, upgrades, and system improvements.
• Maintain equipment histories and reliability records in the computerized maintenance management system.
• Support controls standards, electrical safety, backup and recovery, change control, and technical documentation.
• Partner with Engineering and project teams on installations, capital projects, commissioning, validation, and maintenance handoffs.
• Coach and develop controls and maintenance staff while supporting departmental budgeting and equipment improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, technical education, apprenticeship training, or equivalent technical experience in electrical, automation, instrumentation, industrial maintenance, or a related discipline.
• Five to eight years of experience in technical maintenance, electrical controls, automation, instrumentation, manufacturing equipment troubleshooting, or related technical fields.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, control panels, schematics, and industrial networks.
• Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, computerized maintenance systems, and equipment reliability practices.
• Understanding of mechanical systems and how electrical and controls issues affect safety, quality, throughput, and equipment performance.
• Ability to lead and develop employees, prioritize competing demands, communicate clearly, and collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Safety.
• Immigration sponsorship or support is not available, including support for the Form I-983 STEM OPT training plan.

• Technical certifications in PLCs, industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, or automation.
